August 30, 2010 - The August, 2010 issue of the Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences (NYAS) is a record of the CAF-sponsored 9th Cooley's Anemia Symposium held October 21-24, 2009 in New York City. 

August 19, 2010 - A blood drive will be held on August 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Tru Salon, 437A North Country Rd (25A), in St. James, NY.

August 18, 2010 - The  U.S. Senate has approved S. 1674, the Improving Access to Clinical Trials Act and it is now in the hands of the U.S. House of Representatives.  CAF supports this bill, which makes it possible for people with Supplemental Security Income (SSI) to participate in clinical trials for rare diseases (such as thalassemia) without risking their SSI eligibility.

August 10, 2010 - CAF speaks with Laurice Levine, new TAG (Thalassemia Action Group) President.  TAG is the patient support group that promotes a positive attitude toward life, stresses the importance of compliance and chelation therapy and provides patients with a channel of communication and information.

August 16, 2010 - At their annual convention this summer, the New Jersey Grand Lodge of the Benevolent & Protective Order of the Elks made a generous donation to the Cooley's Anemia Foundation.

August 16, 2010 - The Staten Island chapter of CAF will hold a seminar on thalassemia at a September 28 Health and Wellness Expo in Staten Island, NY.

August 4, 2010 - The Board of Directors of CAF will match any donations made to CAF between  now and September 15, 2010 - which means the money you donate will do TWICE as much good.

August 11, 2010 - The Massachusetts chapter of CAF will hold its 23rd Annual Dinner Dance & Silent Auction on Saturday, September 25, 2010 from 6:30 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. at the Hellenic Cultural Center in Watertown, MA.
